A HARD AWAKENING
The entire multiverse was aware of the Napping Cat's slumber: its unique nature was a source of curiosity for all multi-dimensional experts, sorcerers, researchers and adventurers alike. It drew people in great numbers, and they settled within the Dream and made it thrive.
It seemed it would never end. Nevertheless, there is an end for everything eventually.
The Napping Cat woke up, the Dream faded into wakefulness and its avatars have dispersed to the four winds of the multiverse. Realms that had been tethered to the Cat's multiverse were now floating free in the sidereal expanse. Friends and families were separated by the impenetrable vastness of all creation, perhaps never to meet again.
A HOME FOR THE ORPHANS...
However, the multiverse never says never. Eventually realms that were isolated by their disconnection from the Dream became linked again, and explorers found that all paths in the multiverse eventually led to one singular point: Alef, The Great City, though it is known by as many names as there are dimensions in the multiverse.
Alef is unique among all places in the Universe in that it is a pocket dimension, but an incredibly vast and rich one. No other place in the multiverse has the distinction of having a connection to every other dimension in existence, with newly-born dimensions receiving links a century or so after their birth. Links to 'dead' dimensions like the Napping Cat Dream may still be visited, but it is unwise to do so, as they may sever and cease to exist at any moment.
It is to this city that you have finally arrived, and it is here that you may meet old friends, make new foes, and find paths to new adventure!
OUR PURPOSE
Our Longest Journey does not wish to replace the NCD, but rather it seeks to create a continuation: we're simply giving us a place to come home to and meet old friends, and the opportunity to adventure with a few new ones.
Being a nexus between all multiverses, we can essentially go anywhere, and that includes realms that had been previously accessible in the Napping Cat's dream-- but only if their original creator is in the forum. All characters and creations that happened in the NCD are treated as that particular Player God's copyright, and none may be visited without the PG's participation or permission.
